reasons for writing a CV since there are million jobs out there at various degrees
to be applied for. Though many people write CV, but knowing the type of CV that
suite a particular vacancy is where the challenges arise. Below are the
comprehensive details of the three major type of CV;
·
CRONOLOGICAL
CV
The
chronological CV is also known as “performance CV” it is the most widely used
CV format. This type of CV basically outlines your work and educational
history. It is mostly used when you have stayed in the same career for most of
your life and steadily working your way up. It is also use if you want to
highlight where you have worked rather than what you have achieved.
·
FUNCTIONAL
CV
Functional
CV is also known as “skills-based CV”. This type of CV highlights the skills
and achievements that you have gained throughout your whole working career
irrespective of where and when you acquire them. This is useful if you have gaps in your work
history, if you want a change of career, if you have little experience due to
the fact that you are a fresh graduate or you have not had opportunity to work
before and lastly if you want to show a prospective employer that you possess
the correct skills for the job even though you do not have experience in that
field.
·
COMBINED
CV
This
is also referred to as “chrono-functional CV” It is the combination of both
chronology and functional CV. It is slightly longer in layout, it is important
to get the attention of your prospective employer right from the beginning because
he may get bored and discard the CV. It’s mostly used if you want to show that
not only do you have the right skills but also have work experience to support.
